STEVEN DAVIES

Owner, Head Coach, Personal Trainer

Steven has always been interested in fitness and sport – he remembers playing football from a really young age.

At the age of 20 he joined the Royal Engineers and volunteered for the army commandos, earning the coveted green beret on completion of the course.

In 2011 he was introduced to CrossFit and has never looked back. He became the owner of CrossFit Initiate in 2014, thereby achieving his life-long ambition of owning a gym.

Not content with just being the owner, Steven is focused on developing it into the premier fitness facility in the Rhondda area; and in doing so, helping as many people as possible in their journey to fitness.

JOLEE GREGORY

CrossFit Coach, Bootcamp Instructor

As a Crossfit Level One Trainer, Jolee firmly believes in taking a multi-dimensional approach to health and incorporating regular exercise, as a fundamental component, into a well-balanced lifestyle to achieve optimal health. With a background of University education in both Sports Bio-medicine & Nutrition, and Mental Health Nursing, she is an ardent supporter that making healthy lifestyle choices and deterring away from a sedentary lifestyle can prevent health problems, improve mental state and improve overall quality of life.

Jolee’s love of sport and exercise includes a long background of gymnastics, county level basketball, athletics at national level, and rugby at premiership and regional standard.

Following a move to Thailand, Jolee discovered CrossFit via a local gym – the class workouts triggering her love for CrossFit.

On her return home, Jolee became a member of CrossFit Initiate and focused on her CrossFit training. She started competing in 2015.

The experience that Jolee achieved in a variety of sports, and the knowledge she gained through her studies, created a passion for sport and fitness which led her to pursue her CrossFit Level 1 Qualification in 2016. She began her HIIT style “Bootcamp” classes in September 2016.

SABRINA BUTLER

CrossFit Coach, Kids/Teens Coach

Sabrina has always had a fitness background starting with dance from a young age then moving into cheerleading and gymnastics, and netball during school years.

She studied physical education through GCSE and Sixth Form and went on to study Sport and P.E at University.

Sabrina joined CrossFit in April 2015 and entered her first CrossFit competition in July 2016. By March 2017 she became a CrossFit Level 1 trainer. Just four months later she started her CrossFit Kids course and was soon teaching children how to move properly while having lots of fun.

With the success of the Kids classes, Sabrina started a new class for Teens the following November.  The class is gaining new members on a weekly basis.

Sabrina’s next focus is to graduate from University and complete her Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training, enabling here to pursue her passion of helping people.

ANTHONY HIGGINS

Weightlifting Coach

Anthony has enjoyed sports and fitness from a very young age, initially participating in long distance running and athletics, before moving onto football and rugby.

He enjoyed the training aspect as much as the actual playing and this shows during all his workouts. This was the perfect foundation and easily transferred over to CrossFit and Weightlifting.

Anthony took up CrossFit competitively in 2014. His best achievement to date is a 9th overall finish at the most recent European Championships which is one of the biggest individual competitions in the UK.

His enjoyment for Weightlifting and CrossFit has developed into helping others achieve their goals. While coaching, he focuses on assisting people of all abilities to reach their maximum potential while having fun in the process.

Anthony is highly approachable and always happy to help anyone at anytime.
